Project Proverbs 365: Leave the fool alone

Proverbs 9:7 (MSG)
If you reason with an arrogant cynic, you’ll get slapped in the face; confront bad behavior and get a kick in the shins. So don’t waste your time on a scoffer; all you’ll get for your pains is abuse.

Forgive me tonight. There’s been a huge project at my work and I’m just now headed to bed. I will post more on this proverb tomorrow. I chose the Message version tonight because it seems to sum up the proverb so well.

If you’re dealing with a fool, don’t think that top-shelf wisdom will turn them from their path. If you’re arguing with arrogance, chances are good they aren’t going to listen to you. They only live to argue!

  1. Is this not the definition of “pearls before swine?”

  2. I needed this reminder today after a difficult few days with someone I love tossing wisdom to the wind. Thanks.
